If an individual or business wants to make money online, you need to attract people towards your site; the more folks that come to your site, the better opportunity you have at producing income profits. It’s a MUST to use SEO, if you want to ensure your website is noticed. The following article may help you use SEO techniques to bring in traffic and increase your earnings.

Start With Keywords:

Keywords that best identify your business should be outstanding in your site name. As an example take a look at Luminess Air. A web site must be easy to access if you want it to get the most traffic that it can. One thing to always remember is, Not every one will reach your website through ads, many will come from product searches.

When trying to foster the SEO of your site, you have to have patient. Big increases to your web site’s traffic are not going to show up overnight, no matter what you actually do. Rather, it may take many weeks, even months, especially if your site is brand new. Like the promotion of any brand, time has to be applied to develop brand awareness.

Anchor Text Variety:

The correct anchor text is quite significant when connecting internally on your web site. If you are just typing “click here” and later linking that expression, that is doing completely nothing for your search engine results. A better choice is to utilize descriptive keywords for your anchor text. This makes your page seem more useful to the Search Engine Spiders, helping to enhance your overall rankings as a result.

If your web site is near the top of the 1st page of search engine results, your link will be clicked by people. Therefore, to improve the amount of visitors that your web site or web log gets, you have to take heed of the search engine optimization hints presented above. Search engine optimizing your site or blog is among the best method to improve its exposure online.

If you are just starting out with your first website you will probably be aware of the need to organise web hosting. However, for many people that is about as much as they know about the subject.

But what exactly does this involve and how do you go about choosing the right web hosting company from the plethora of hosting services out there? Well, the good news is that it need not be too complicated. Here are a few pointers worth bearing in mind:

Shared or Dedicated Hosting?

As the name suggests with shared hosting you are basically sharing a server with other website owners. This type of hosting may be fine for a small project such as a personal blog. A dedicated server may be worth the extra investment for a larger project where you anticipate your site is going to attract large numbers of visitors, helping with faster response times. Using dedicated hosting will give you greater storage space, not to mention improved security as well.

Security

Particularly in light of recent events, security should be a consideration when choosing hosting. Don’t be reluctant to ask a prospective hosting service to outline the security precautions they offer their clients. In particular, make sure any hosting service you are considering using has adequate measures in place to protect against risks such as DDoS attacks, as well as attacks from hackers.

Look For Reviews

Another good tip to help you choose the best hosting service for your needs is to research any companies you are considering. Check to see if there are any reviews – good or bad – online. One word of caution here: many hosting services have affiliate programmes where they reward affiliate partners for any clients directed to them. This means that some “reviews” you may find online are not actually genuine reviews of a service, but rather simply a well-disguised sales pitch. So while any reviews you can find may help you in your final decision, be sure to treat them with a pinch of salt!

We recommend you look for reviews and comparisons on site and off. For example a company will often include website hosting reviews but you can often cross reference reviews to ensure they are real by checking other sites like http://www.serchen.com/company/media-fortress/,

Location

There is a school of thought that says that choosing a hosting company with servers in the geographic location you are targeting can help with your rankings. That is to say if you have a site which is targeting the Australian market, it makes sense to use a hosting company with Australia-based servers. If nothing else this should help decrease latency times for your site, improving visitor engagement, and also has the added benefit that if you are in need of support, you are not in a different time zone from your web host.

When you’re looking for a place to host a website, you should opt for a company that has web servers located geographically close to your targeted traffic. If you need to target people in a certain country, stick with a hosting provider that offers support 24/7. With Google and Bing it is possible to tell the search engine where you are targeting with Web master tools.

Try to communicate with clients of the hosts you’re considering. These chats will also increase your confidence in a good company. Customers who currently use the hosting service will give the best advice possible.

You need to make sure the company have a strict policy that will protect your site (and your information) from hackers or other online dangers. A good web host backs its servers frequently.

Many web host companies require that you backup your data up. If the server is somehow compromised, this ensures that you can readily rebuild it.

To ensure a safe website, buy a certificate to get secure server status.

Use a popular payment provider to purchase your web page hosting service. Using PayPal or a credit card can give you beyond the scope of payment by direct debit or a web host.

Many website designers may not know much regarding website hosting. Now that you have read this article though, you should hopefully be a little wiser about web hosting. Keep these tips in mind as you search for your own website hosting service and make sure to get the most for your time and money.

If you have more people seeing your web log or website then you can without a doubt make much more money. Raising this traffic is very significant. In order to optimize traffic, consider learning about search engine optimization. To your advantage, reading this article will give you hints on making use of search engine optimization.

Lets Start With Your Main Keyword Phrase:

When determining key word usage for your website, you should consider the means that individuals would use to search for your content. Add keywords to both your title tag and chief content, but keep your keyword density to a rational level to avoid getting the dreaded “key word stuffer” label.

The best way to get a high search engine position is to aid the search engine spiders. Web spiders will find your content based on keywords, but your site should be easy for them to use. A site map is a good tool to aid a net bot find your pages.

Even if the content in your articles is based around the same issue, every title word should be creative, exceptional and attention grabbing. Use short titles that will entice the reader to continue reading ahead to the post. The first few words of a title are always the most significant.

You should focus on writing original and important information on your site if you want to raise your search engine position. Interesting, original content ranks higher on search engines because it attracts more traffic. People remain and click around your site when you have something interesting and unique to offer.

When a search engine spits out the results, you will see that the first two pages of sites that show up will get the most visits. For example take a look at this ZQuiet Webpage. To raise eyeballs on your web log or web site, get these suggestions to work. Comprehending the principles of search engine optimization frequently means the differences between success or failure on the net, so begin optimizing your site today!

Social media seems to be everywhere these days and there is little doubt that it can be very effective as part of your businesses overall internet marketing stategy. Having said that, you need to ensure that when it comes to marketing with the aid of social media you are on the right track, particularly because things can change so quickly in the world of marketing in general and in social media marketing in particular.

Below, we have noted a few of our top tips for getting the best from any social media marketing campaign:

Review your current activities

First things first, it’s always a good idea before you start off on any new initiative to take the time to assess dispassionately what you are currently doing and to judge what is and is not working

For instance, are you getting the best from the portals you are currently using? Are you devoting enough time and attention to your social media marketing activities or is it something you just have a look at when you have a little free time? Do not fall into the trap of thinking that because a particular site is not really producing any positive results for you that you should simply forget about it. If you want to get positive returns from any social media site, you need to put some effort into it.

If you do not seem to be getting the reponse you want from a particular site now might be a good time to ramp up your activities on that site for a while to see if it produces dividends. If ,after a few months, the response is still disappointing it may be time to drop your activities on that site and move on to another.

Work hard to develop real fans and followers

When it comes to social media there is a tendency to think that the more fans or followers you have the better. This is to some degree understandable, but in actual fact you may well be better off with a smaller number of people following you if they are properly engaged and are more likely to end up becoming customers or buyers of your goods and/or services.

An example of this is a company or business who buys fans or followers. They may have an impressive number of followers to boast about, but they are unlikely to be in any way interested in their business and thus not really doing it any good.

Get people involved

It’s not enough simply to post articles content or media that you enjoy or find interesting. You need to get your fans and followers opinon too. By asking your followers their views, you will get them more closely involved and start a real online conversation. If a fan or follower takes the time and trouble to participate in a conversation about a particular topic or subject, they are much more likely to think of your business when they are next thinking about that topic. And if the next time they are thinking about it is when they are considering buying, the benefits to your business are obvious because you will be uppermost in their minds.

Have you ever noticed those adverts or short lines of text which appear on websites as you browse? Were you aware that you can make money every time someone clicks on an advert or a few random lines of text on a website? It’s know as pay per click advertising and there are several different options available, of which the biggest and best known is Googles Adwords programme. The attraction for both advertiser and site owner appears obvious but is it an effective medium for either or both parties?

PPC advertising is growing apace, being regarded as an immediate and effective way for businesses to grow their market share while they develop a more organic search engine presence through conventional white hat SEO methods. Indeed while many advertisers choose to use PPC to place themselves in front of potential customers as their SEO efforts are developing many recognise the immediacy of PPC and continue to use it as a means of internet marketing even when they have managed to get their site(s) to the first page in the SERPs.

All of which is great news for the various search engines who profit from PPC ads placement

So if you are interested in pursuing a PPC campaign what do you need to do to ensure it is effective and profitable? As in most forms of internet marketing the choice of keywords is crucial. Your ads will show up every time a person types in a certain word or phrase so it’s important to ensure that the words or phrase is one which not only has decent amounts of traffic in the first place, but also represents accurately the product or service offered by your business.

PPC works in the following way: the client, ie the website owner pays the search engine advertiser – Google, Bing etc –a certain sum every time their advert is clicked by someone browsing the internet, regardless of whether they go on to buy the product or service. The amount payable varies, broadly in line with how competitive the market is and the value of the market as a whole. For instance, a click on an avert for car insurance will cost the advertiser or site owner much more than a click on an ad for carpet cleaning.

So what is the best way as a site owner to get the best from PPC. Initially PPC was used as a quick and inexpensive way of driving traffic to your site. It did not matter if your site was not well placed in the SERPs, you could have a sponsored listing at the op of the search results driving decent amounts of traffic to your site straight away. PPC is more expensive these days. While it can still be used as a standalone method of driving visitors to your site it is often best used in conjunction with traditional SEO to get the maximum number of visitors to a site. While it has long been appreciated that the top three results in the organic listings can receive up to eighty per cent of visitors for a particular search term, it is now being recognised that a top organic listing, combined with a sponsored listing, can sometimes be even more effective in generating maximum visitors to a site.

The process of trying to rank your website in the SERPs is known as SEO – search engine optimisation. This is somthing you can try yourself. There is plenty of advice online and if you have the time and patience, and a certain aptitude, you may find your efforts yield good results. However, if you have neither the time nor the inclination or if you have tried to do it yourself without success, you may need to consider hiring the services of a professional SEO provider.

There are many of them around, but they can be expensive, so how can you be sure you have chosen the right one, a reputable service such as http://www.flauntdigital.co.za/? In a word, look for accountability. All too often we hear of website owners who pay SEO companies hundreds or even thousands of pounds or dollars each month for their “services”, but have no idea what they are actually getting for their services. In one recent instance we heard of a company who had been paying hundreds of dollars each month for several years but were not in the top one hundred results for all the keywords they were targetting. The owner of the business was a successful entrepreneur but this was his first venture into internet marketing and he was effectively being duped by an unscrupulous provider who in 18 months had carried out no on-site SEO and had not built a single link when checked withn appropriate tools such as SEO Spyglass, OpenSiteExplorer and aHrefs.

The moral of the story? If you decide to use an SEO service make sure you receive a detailed monthly report of what they are doing for you, so you can ensure your money is being well spent.

Just a few short years ago online deals were all the rage. The timing could not have been better of course with the fallout from the banking crisis meaning that people everywhere were suddenly much more conscious of their spending and more inclined to shop around for a better deal. Attitudes to online deals seem to be a bit more mixed these days which means business owners are faced with the conundrum of trying to determine how they can make these types of deals work for their businesses. Here are a few keys considerations before embarking on an online deal:

Is This The Best Way To Use My Budget?

This should be the first thing any business owner considers – is an online deal the most cost-effective way of getting your message across and maximising revenues or are there other opportunities which would work better and cost less. For most business owners funds are finite, so it is essential to spend your marketing budget in such a way that you get the biggest bang for your buck.

The problem is that unless you have tried an online deal before you are not going to know how effective it can be, so there is an element of trial and error involved. Business owners may have to look beyond the immediate returns they might generate from an online deal to take into account increased brand awareness and social media activity, which may lead to increased sales further down the line.

Is Your Business The Right Kind To Succeed In Online Deals

Not all businesses benefit equally from online deals. Those businesses which generally find these deals work well include businesses like restaurants, hairdressers or retail outlets because they are generally familiar and well frequented and people are usually willing to try something new if they are being offered a financial incentive to do so. Businesses where sales are more of a one-off event, such as car repairs, or outfitters, may find online deals do not have the same appeal for potential customers.

Will An Online Deal Help Achieve Your Business Targets?

Businesses owners should try to step back to see whether an online deal will actually help further the business in the longer term. It may work to bring a short-term spike in sales, but if your goal is to increase sales month on month, then an online deal may not be the answer. To achieve this, your marketing needs to bring increased footfall to your store or more visitors to your website, not just as a one-off event but over the longer term.

After considering the above points you may conclude that an online deal is the right way to go for your business. Alternatively, you may discover that you can use your advertising and marketing budget more productively, in a way that helps you achieve the objectives set out in your business plan.

As newsworthy events go, it probably isn’t quite up there with the latest current affairs events around the globe, but management at Interflora, the UK’s largest flower delivery service, will be delighted today to know that they have recovered – at least partially – their ranking in Google’s search engine less than two weeks after they disappeared altogether in what was presumed to be a penalty.

Interflora is back ranking again when you search for the brand name and the business Google+ box is visible once more alongside the relevant search results. As of yesterday, a search in Google.co.uk returned Interflora as the number one result for the search term “florists”, but there are a number of other key phrases and terms for which the company is not yet back ranking in the same position it was before the site was penalised.

Prior to the penalty being imposed Interflora ranked in the top three results for a variety of other key phrases including “flowers”, “mothers day flowers”, “flower delivery” and “roses”. At the current time it ranks in the bottom half of page one for them, suggesting the penalty has not been completely removed. Google made no official announcement after Interflora’s removal from its results, but perhaps significantly, just a few days after the penalty took effect, Google delivered a warning against the use of Advertorials designed to pass PR.

All things considered perhaps Interflora should consider themselves to have got off quite lightly. The penalty did not come into effect until shortly after Valentine’s Day and their rankings have been at least partially restored in time for another major day in the calender for all florists – Mothers Day!

If you install, move, add WordPress Themes, Plugins, or just rearrange things on your server, you are going to run into the challenges associated with file permissions with WordPress. If you are concerned about security, protection from hackers, viruses, and other evil, get familiar with file permissions in WordPress.

In general, file permissions are variables set on server files to control access and usage of the file for individuals, browsers, code, and programs. Consider them the firewalls to your WordPress website, dictating who can do what with each file and folder.

All these folder and files permissions can be confusing in WordPress. Recently, I had a site offline for three hours, going through a variety of tests to figure out what was causing the problem. It boiled down to a single folder being set to the wrong permissions. I had to go through every file and folder to figure out which one was set wrong, so take care when changing file permissions.

There are three levels of access: Owner, Group, and Public. There are three options under each level to fine tune the control and access, read, write, and execute, and you can set these in a variety of combinations. Permissions can be the same or different on folders and files both.

There are key files and areas of your WordPress installation which must be “writable,” able to be edited and changed. If you’ve ever used permalinks or the built-in WordPress Editor for Themes or Plugins, you may have encountered a warning “that said changes could be made if this file were writable.” This means that these files or folders are set at a permission level that doesn’t allow access to make changes. In order to change from from within WordPress, you must set their permission levels to be able to be edited.

Among the writable files and folders in WordPress, some must be writable by the user account, others with less restriction such as the folder to which you upload images.

Luckily, WordPress is fairly easy. All folders must be set to 755, and files set to 644, except for wp-config.php at 640, and all files you need to be writable, like WordPress Themes, need to be set to 666 if you wish to edit them from within WordPress. If you edit them through FTP, then you can set them for tighter security levels.

What this means is that when people or bots try to access these files, they will get a forbidden error, keeping them safe from intruding viruses and malware.

There are many ways to set file permissions on your server. The easiest way is through FTP access. Depending upon how your FTP client program works, usually selecting the folders and/or files and right clicking to select Properties or File Permissions will get you to the file permissions menu. Select or type in the file permissions, select whether or not to apply to folders or files or both, and apply.

For those used to direct access, you can use chmod to set file and folder permissions.

We’ve put together a chart of recommendations for the various files and folders for setting the permission levels with WordPress. You can change these at any time to accommodate work you may be doing on the server. For example, if you need full access to a set of files, can set it to 777 or something slightly less secure. Remember to reset them for maximum security on your site.

There is one caveat to WordPress file permissions. Not all web host servers are equal. Some have dedicated security levels that can protect your files almost no matter what permissions you set, while others are not quite as locked down. Check with your host for specifics on what they recommend to be sure your files are set at the highest level of security and access, while still allowing WordPress to function.

The following is a list of some salient features:

• Streamline look for tabs and menu bar, and improved ability to switch tabs from the address bar, and have app tabs.

• Firefox menu access is now through the Firefox button above the tab bar.

• Tab management features built-in for drag and drop tab groups.

• Online Identity Portal to make Firefox your one-stop-shop to the social web.

• Improved sync capabilities for passwords, bookmarks, history, open tabs, and other customization across multiple devices, “taking Firefox with you wherever you go.”

• New add-on and extension management, similar in some ways to Chrome, but tabbed to breakdown customization features and preferences.

• Firefox is faster than ever with the new JägerMonkey JavaScript engine, reporting six times faster than previous versions.

• Support for HTML5, CSS3, and SVG images.

• Support for WebM and HD Video, as well as interactive audio with HTML5.

• WebGL integration for 3D graphics.

• Support for multi-touch, touch screen interaction.

• Support for OpenType fonts.

• Improvements in Firefox Personas and Themes.

• Control over website permissions, one click logins, and one click overview of user/site relationships such as passwords, cookies, geolocation, add-ons, popup blocking, etc.

• Improved security on the site side, as sites can keep attackers from “intercepting sensitive data while accessing the site” instructions Firefox to automatically switch to https.

• Improvements for web apps with Websockets.

The two things most people want to know are will their favorite Firefox extensions still work in the new version, and will the Firefox versus Flash crashes end.

According to Mozilla, currently 70% of all official Firefox Extensions and Add-ons report compatibility with the new version of Firefox. Use the Add-on Compatibility Reporter to test the compatibility of your extensions. If a favorite hasn’t been updated, check Ghacks’ Methods to force Firefox Add-on Compatibility. It might not work with all add-ons, but it could with the one you can’t live without.

Mozilla’s team worked overtime to improve crash protections in Firefox 4, especially for Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime and Microsoft Silverlight Plugins. Most of those programs have also updated recently to make them more stable, but this is fantastic news for Firefox fans waiting over two years for this issue to be resolved. If a plugin freezes or crashes, it won’t affect the rest of Firefox. Similar to Chromes recent improvements, only that page will crash, not the entire browser.

What You Need to Know About Using Firefox 4

In general, if you are familiar with old versions of Firefox, you should manage fine within the new version, with a little learning curve. If you are familiar with Chrome and how it hide control and customization options, then this will be a breeze.

However, there are some things that will take a bit to get used to with Firefox 4 and you need to be ready for them.

First on the list is how to access the menu area to make changes and see toolbars. Right click in the “empty space” in the menu bar between the address bar and the back and forward buttons, or on the right side on the same line as the address bar to access the right click menu. Right clicking in the title bar will not work for access to these functions. When I refer to “right click on the empty space” that’s what is meant.

Status Bar: Think UP

For those web savvy folk used to relying upon the Status Bar to verify where links go before clicking, tracking page loading information, and other goodies typically found in the Status Bar at the bottom left corner of the browser window, you’re going to have to think UP instead.

The Status Bar information on link hovers is now in the Address Bar. I have to admit, my eyes got very tired automatically looking down, remembering, then bouncing up to the top. Since my eyes were already at the top or midway on the screen, it’s less work to look up, however, many years of ingrained habits might make this physical switch take a little while to relearn.

A side effect of moving the link information up to the Address Bar also means it has to share with the page URL. If you are working with a low screen resolution or small window, most of the link information will be cut off or not visible.

We’ll cover how to customize this and other menu functions and features in the next section on the orange Firefox button, your new control panel for Firefox.

Access Through Firefox Button

The menus and controls of Firefox 4 have been streamlined similar to Windows Office where everything you really want and need is under a single button. It’s the Firefox button, an orange drop down button at the upper left of the screen. Click it to open up the familiar menus, though a few things have been moved around

If you don’t see the Firefox orange rectangular button, right click on an empty space in the menu bar area of the browser and deselect Menu Bar. Reverse that to get the familiar look back.

Along with the minimized menu interface through the Firefox button, the Bookmarks button replaces the entire Bookmarks menu option or toolbar. To get it back and visible, right click and choose Bookmarks Toolbar to enable.

Some of the other losses many people are missing in Firefox 4 are the Feed Subscribe icon, Reload, Stop, and Page Title.

People like seeing the title of the web page and site they are viewing at the top of the browser. The loss of this in the menu minimization is one many feel strongly, as it was a touchstone, a security device to verify what page you were viewing. You can put it back with a Greasemonkey script, Firefox 4: Bring the Title Back, or through the Firefox 4 UI Fixer, along with the other missing pieces.

To manually add back the Reload, Stop, Subscribe, and other missing buttons, right click on any empty area in the menu bar and choose Customize, then click and drag the buttons to wherever you want them to appear. Reload and Stop are now built-into the far right end of the address bar, and choosing to add the buttons to replace it will remove it from the address bar. Or try RSS Icon In Awesombar Add-on for Firefox to restore the Feed Icon and Status-4-Evar add-on, a Firefox extension that puts the status bar back where it belonged.
